EXPLORE THIS MONTH'S MIXED FEELINGS BOX
This month's box includes four activities that explore the rich inner world of emotions, from how our feelings shift and mix together, to the ways nature influences how we feel, the different strengths we can draw on when challenges arise, and how imagining the experiences of other living beings can grow our empathy and understanding.
MIXED FEELINGS
Explore how emotions can mix, change and exist alongside one another. In this activity, children will use colourful natural dyes to paint a fabric lantern, allowing the colours to blend together in their own unique way. As they create, they'll explore the idea that just like colours, our feelings aren't always one thing at a time, and the mix can change the way we experience the world.
While creating, wonder:
- •What feelings are mixed together inside you today?
- •If your feelings were colours, what would they look like?
TREE TALES
Slow down and imagine the world from the perspective of another living being. Children will choose a tree, observe its unique features and use clay and natural treasures to create a face that brings its imagined story to life. They'll then complete a 'Meet My Tree' interview card, encouraging curiosity about what the tree may have experienced and the other living things that share its world.
While imagining, wonder:
- •What might your tree have seen in its lifetime?
- •How does imagining its story make you feel?
PEBBLE PATROL
Discover the different strengths we can call on when we face a challenge. Children will transform six pebbles into the Pebble Patrol: Brave, Calm, Curious, Kind, Fair and Careful. They'll then spin the challenge wheel and decide which characters could help, exploring how different strengths can solve the same problem and how sometimes our strengths are even more powerful when they work together.
While playing, wonder:
- •Which Pebble Patrol character are you most like?
- •What special strength would you bring to the team?
FEELING FINDER
Discover the many ways the natural world can influence how we feel. Children will create a collection of feeling leaves, then head outside in search of places and natural treasures that spark each emotion. As they explore, they'll begin to notice their own emotional responses to different parts of nature and discover the places they can return to when they want to feel a certain way.
While exploring, wonder:
- •Which places in nature make you feel calm, brave, happy or peaceful?
- •Where in nature do you feel most like yourself?
Themed Mindfulness Script
Every box includes a children's meditation script designed to explore where emotions can be felt in our body. This month's script gently guides children to notice the sensations that come with different feelings, helping them build body awareness, emotional understanding, and a calm, connected sense of self.
